Connecting the Heart of NYC

MTA New York City Transit

The challenge

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is a public benefit corporation that oversees public transportation in the New York City metropolitan area. To maintain and improve the efficiency and reliability of its extensive transit network, the MTA required a significant upgrade to its communication infrastructure. This project involved updating cabling systems to support advanced communication technologies.

The goals

  • Improve Network Connectivity: Install and run new Cat 6 and type 1 cabling.
  • Ensure Reliable Terminations: Perform precise cable terminations and reconnections.
  • Modernize Infrastructure: Remove outdated cabling and clear conduits for new installations.

Our Approach

We installed Cat 6 and Type 1 cabling throughout the designated areas, ensuring high-speed and reliable network connectivity. This involved running new cables and integrating them with the existing infrastructure. Precise termination and reconnection of cables were performed to guarantee seamless network performance. Additionally, we removed and cut old, pre-existing cables from the conduits, clearing the way for the new installations and ensuring the system’s overall efficiency and reliability.

Through these upgrades, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority now benefits from enhanced communication infrastructure, supporting New York City’s efficient public transportation network operation. This project improves current connectivity and lays the foundation for future technological advancements in the transit system.
